Municipality

 
Kakheti region lies across 11.379 km2 area populated by 409.551 inhabitants.
 
The region consists of eight administrative-territorial units, the Municipalities.
 
 
There are the following Municipalities in Kakheti Region:
  • The Telavi Municipality (area 1.094 km2, population 68.000) - Map
  • The Akhmeta Municipality (area 2.248 km2, population 44.100) - Map
  • The Gurjaani Municipality (area 849 km2, population 73.200) - Map
  • The Kvareli Municipality (area 1.000 km2, population 40.663) - Map
  • The Dedoplistskaro Municipality (area 2.531 km2, population 30.240) - Map
  • The Lagodekhi Municipality (area 890 km2, population 50.300) - Map
  • The Sagarejo Municipality (area 1.515 km2, population 60.396) - Map
  • The Sighnaghi Municipality (area 1.251 km2, population 42.652) - Map

 

State Envoy - the Governor is a representative of Georgian President and Government in the region of Kakheti. The Governor is functioned to ensure coordination of public order in the region, to mobilize resources, to organize elaboration and implementation of socio-economic development programs for administrative-territorial entities, to attract investments and carry out reforms, to uphold human rights and others.
 
The representative (Sakrebulo) and executive (Gamgeoba) bodies administer local self-government in Kakheti.
