Telavi Wine Cellar

Telavi Wine Cellar was founded in 1915 near Telavi, located in Georgia's principal wine-growing region of Kakheti. In that year, the company's first vineyards were planted in the village of Kondoli, and its winemaking processes evolved with the times. In 1997, under new ownership, the company upgraded its facilities with sophisticated, modern-day European equipment. A new approach to its wine production standard was adopted, combining the tradition of Georgian winemaking with the finest methods and techniques from around the world.

OUR PHILOSOPHY: To consistently blend the ancient art of winemaking with innovative techniques, while remaining true to the traditions of the Georgian MARANI.

MARANI is the Georgian word for "wine cellar". It is where the grape harvest is gathered and pressed, and is considered a sacred place to every Georgian. The grape juice is aged in oak barrels or traditional clay vessels, and is eventually transformed into the blessed nectar, GEORGIAN WINE.

Our company's success is reflected through our passion for winemaking:
  • Up to 200 gold and silver medals garnered at international wine competitions
  • An expansive selection of wines, from light to heavy-bodied and dry to very sweet
  • A winery equipped with the most sophisticated and up-to-date technologies
  • A substantial increase in modern wine production capabilities between 1998 to 2008
  • More than 300 hectares of vineyards within three main appellations of the Kakheti region: Tsinandali for white wines; Mukuzani and Kindzmarauli for reds
  • Increase in the number of international markets, including: Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Belorussia, Poland, United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, Canada, USA, China, Japan and New Zealand. Time by time other markets will be entered.
